Job Summary

Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images (photographs) of patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Chief of Radiology and the Imaging Services Director, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative, performs related technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.

Responsibilities

1. Performs patient studies according to set protocol including placing specified coil close to area of interest.
2. Operates imaging and other equipment devices to provide quality diagnostic services, including specifying scan sequences, adjusting transmitters and receivers, and photographing images.
3. Interviews patients to explain MRI procedures, addressing concerns with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
4. Ensures safety protocols are followed, including removal of hazardous metal objects and monitoring patients via CCTV.
5. Orients and trains new hires, MRI Technologists, students, and trainees.
6. May direct, check, and train other MRI staff in the absence of the Supervising Technologist.
7. Performs other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of recent, continuous experience as an MRI Technologist, proficient in all duties of MRI Technologist II.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
• Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California) within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements

• Proven proficiency in teaching and training other Technologists.
• Full proficiency in MRI procedures and protocols.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• ARRT certification preferred.
