Magnetic resonance imaging technologists, also referred to as MRI technologists, utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI technologists must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly, and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.

**A caregiver in this position works four 10-hour shifts from 9:00AM - 8:00PM.**

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Prepare and check patients prior to MRI procedure.

+ Acquire and review patient questionnaire, chart and data/requisition to determine contraindication of having MRI examination.

+ Verify and validate the patient screening safety form.

+ Perform MRI procedures required per protocol and perform daily QA.

+ Perform venipunctures.

+ Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exams.

+ Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.

+ Assist with scheduling patients.

+ Administer proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam.

+ Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.

+ Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.

+ Immediately report any malfunctions, observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems or call for service.

+ Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility.

+ Process billing via RIS.

+ Potentially rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT.

+ Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing.

+ OR Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. ARDMS and NMTCB are primary pathways.

+ Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) required within one year of hire.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

+ Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities.

**Physical Requirements:**

+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

+ Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

+ Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds.

**Personal Protective Equipment:**

+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
