Job summary

AdventHealth in Overland Park, KS is seeking an MRI Technologist for full-time daytime shifts. You will perform MRI imaging procedures, position patients, and ensure safety while delivering quality diagnostic images.

The role requires strong patient communication and adherence to imaging protocols in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will operate MRI equipment, document results in EMR/PACS, and assist with patient education and safety checks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Completion of an MRI training program with ARRT/MR or ARMRIT certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret clinical information and imaging orders.
  • Excellent communication with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Knowledge of MRI safety and ALARA principles.
  • Proficiency with EMR, PACS, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI imaging procedures and ensure accurate results.
  • Prepare patients, position them, and monitor for safety during exams.
  • Administer IV contrast following safety guidelines.
  • Maintain clean rooms, restock supplies, and follow QC procedures.
  • Document exams in EMR/PACS and adhere to department protocols.

Job Description

Position: MRI Technologist, Full-Time Days $10,000 Sign on Bonus Location: AdventHealth South Overland Park

Job Summary: Responsible for performing MRI imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results. This role performs clerical duties and provides basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards. In addition, this position adheres to MRI safety guidelines, compliance plans, and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies.

Work Hours/Shifts: Full-Time Days 4 x 10-hour shifts Tuesday – Friday 0730-1800 $10,000 Sign on Bonus.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]

  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]
