Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS, is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform MRI imaging procedures and assist in patient care. The role includes positioning patients, preparing contrast material, and ensuring sterile, safe exam rooms and equipment.

The position requires strong communication and safety awareness. Responsibilities include educating patients, following departmental policies, and maintaining licensure while adhering to ALARA principles.

Job Description:

Responsible for performing MRI imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Positions, moves, and assists patients to ensure accurate imaging results. This role performs clerical duties and provides basic patient care within the scope of practice and departmental standards. In addition, this position adheres to MRI safety guidelines, compliance plans, and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

  • Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education [Required]
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required]
  • Excellent customer service skills [Required]
  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required]
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required]
Education:
  • Associate [Preferred]
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Work Experience:
  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred]
