Job summary

UVA Health Outpatient Imaging Culpeper in Culpeper, VA is seeking an experienced MRI technologist to perform routine to complex MRI studies, ensuring patient comfort and safety while delivering high-quality images.

Under the Radiology Medical Director, you will collaborate with radiologists and nursing staff, assist with scheduling and training, and contribute to a patient-centered imaging program with weekday days.

Qualifications

• Minimum associate's degree in Radiology or equivalent two-year program.
• ARRT Radiography or ARRT/ARMIT certification and current registration.
• MR advanced registration required or within 12 months depending on IDTF status and state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex MRI procedures with high-quality images.
• Ensure MRI safety standards, accreditation compliance, and patient safety.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, onboarding, and performance support.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues with vendors and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with MRI safety standards, accreditation requirements, and departmental policies
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, training, onboarding, and performance support
• Perform high-quality MRI procedures while maintaining patient comfort and safety
• Troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues in collaboration with service vendors and leadership
• Monitor image quality and ensure adherence to established protocols
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction goals
• Collaborate with radiologists, nursing staff, and referring providers to optimize patient care

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, the MRI technologist:

• Performs routine to complex magnetic resonance procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures services are performed in a safe environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Serves as part of the imaging center team and seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice.

Position Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, days

Requirements

EDUCATION:

• Must have a minimum associate's degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography, or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMIT) and maintain current valid registration from ARRT or ARMIT. MR advanced registration through ARRT or ARMIT is required upon hire for IDTF centers. Non-IDTF centers require MR advanced registry within the first 12 months of employment. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.
