Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to join the Radiology team in Philadelphia. You will operate the MRI scanner, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with radiologists to deliver high-quality imaging.

The role emphasizes excellent patient interaction, adherence to safety protocols, and participation in continuous improvement within a highly experienced radiology department.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an approved Radiologic and/or MRI Technology program.
• ARRT certification in MRI or within first year of employment.
• MRI Certification required.
• CT Certification preferred.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs checks of diagnosis, prescription, Epic order and patient ID per documentation.
• Greets patients and explains the procedure to patient and family.
• Obtains patient history, screens for surgeries/implanted items, verifies GFR, and addresses concerns.
• Place angiocatheters and inject MRI contrast as directed by Radiologist.
• Operates the MRI scanner, RF coils, workstations and MR injectors to produce high-quality images.
• Archive and verify MRI images to hard-copy format as needed.
• Performs quality assurance testing per department protocols.
• Monitors patient status, tolerance and wellbeing during the study.
• Aids radiologists and UPHS team in completing procedures per protocol.
• Complies with OSHA, TJC, DOH and safety regulations.
• Maintains inventory for assigned workstation and rotates stock.
• Responds to emergencies per departmental policies.
• Establishes good working relationships within the facility and with external customers.
• Communicates equipment problems and image quality issues.
