MRI Technologist - Duke Regional Hospital - 1st Shift - Weekend Option - Free Parking

***This position is eligible for relocation assistance and a $15,000 commitment bonus.***

Schedule: Saturday/Sunday/Monday, 7 am - 7 pm

General Description of the Job Class

Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance.
  2. Assist radiologists with procedure protocoling and performance. Start IVs, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.
  3. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images, and sequence of acquisition; label appropriately.
  4. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
  5. Charge MR procedures and supplies in EHR.
  6. Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
  7. Maintain accurate patient records.
  8. Provide orientation and training for new technologists and student technologists.
  9. Provide for the psychological and physical needs of patients during MR procedures.
  10. Understand and utilize the Image Archival System.
  11. Perform complex tasks related to high field strength magnet operation to produce specialized radiographic images.
  12. Position patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment as required.
  13. Coordinate scheduling and patient flow across multiple MR sites.
  14. Assist with education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, attending physicians).
  15. Collaborate with radiologists and physicists to develop new protocols and MR imaging techniques specific to DUHS.
  16. Support research activities within Duke Health System by scanning and applying protocols. Demonstrate proficiency in over 100 MR protocols and teach their correct application.
  17. Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein.

Required Qualifications

Education: Graduate or completion of a program meeting eligibility requirements for registry/certification, or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience: Level I must obtain ARRT or ARMRIT in Magnetic Resonance (MR) certification within 18 months of employment. Level II requires a minimum of two years' experience as an MRI technologist. Level III requires at least four years' experience within the specialty modality seeking promotion.

Degrees, Licensure, and Certifications: Certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT, ARDMS, or registry eligibility for MR. ARRT or ARMRIT registered in MR required within 18 months. BLS certification is also required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated proficiency in MR procedures, patient safety, and technical quality assurance. Ability to teach and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
