Job summary

UVA Health, at UVA Community Health, seeks an MRI technologist to prepare patients and operate MRI equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. You will work with radiologists and staff under general supervision, positioning patients and selecting imaging factors to produce quality images for interpretation.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited MRI program, and ARRT/ARMRIT eligibility with required certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; MRI program graduation.
• 2 years healthcare experience preferred.
• ARRT or ARMRIT MRI registration or eligible; certification due within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Explain procedure and post-procedure orders to patients.
• Prioritize workflow based on patient condition and timely arrivals/departures.
• Maintain sterile equipment and fields.
• Adjust imaging parameters to obtain proper density and contrast.
• Perform warm-up and quality control on MRI equipment.
• Use protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
• Critique images for quality and determine if repeats are needed.
