Job summary

The MRI technologist at The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia will work with radiologists and staff to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. The technologist will position the patient's body part for imaging and set appropriate technical factors to ensure high-quality images for interpretation.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; graduate of accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging program.
2 years healthcare experience preferred.
ARRT or ARMRIT registered in MRI, or eligible; certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications; ability to work in a stressful environment; proficient in MRI safety.

Responsibilities

Explain procedures and post-procedure orders to patients and ensure cooperation.
Prioritize workflow based on patient condition and ensure timely arrivals/departures.
Maintain clean examination surfaces and proper linen supplies; follow universal precautions.
Maintain sterile equipment; adjust imaging parameters; perform quality control and assess image quality.
