Job summary

MUSC Health in Charleston, SC seeks an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI exams on patients of all ages using 3T, mobile, and upright systems. You will follow safety protocols and collaborate with radiologists and nurses to deliver timely imaging.

This full-time day shift includes a $10,000 sign-on bonus, relocation assistance up to $5,000, and weekend differential. ARRT (R) and ARMRIT with BLS required; 0–2 years experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• 0 to 2 years of modality-specific work experience, at least 1 year of X-Ray experience preferred.
• Must be ARRT registered (R), ARMRIT registration within 1 year in this position.
• Current BLS from AHA or ARC recognized provider.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations on patients across all ages.
• Operate MRI equipment safely to obtain diagnostic-quality images.
• Utilize MRI resources and protocols to ensure timely imaging services.
• Prepare, position, and educate patients regarding MRI procedures.
• Adhere to safety standards and infection control practices.

Shift Details

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations on patients across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently to obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
• Utilize all available MRI resources, protocols, and technology to ensure accurate and timely imaging services.
• Prepare, position, and educate patients regarding MRI procedures to promote patient comfort and cooperation.
• Adhere to established safety standards, infection control practices, and MRI-specific protocols.
• Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs and concerns.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide exceptional patient care.
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and quality control of MRI equipment and work areas.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental operations., and organizational policies and procedures.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience, at least 1 year of X-Ray experience preferred.

Required Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R), required.

Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT), if not registered must be obtained within 1 year in this position.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider

Examples Include

• To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker.
• 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet.
• 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
