Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers is seeking an MRI Technologist to operate and maintain the MRI scanner, obtain diagnostic images, and support protocol development. The role requires patient instruction, image acquisition, and adherence to safety standards.

The candidate should have radiology training, ARRT registration, BLS, and SC licensure. On-site position with on-call obligations and rotation to other imaging areas may apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
• Two years of diagnostic radiology experience in a health care facility and one year as an MRI Technologist preferred.
• ARRT registration, BLS certification, and SC license as required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies written requests for MRI procedures.
• Instructs patients regarding MRI procedures; prepares, positions, and manipulates patients for imaging.
• Selects imaging techniques and calibrates console and peripherals as required.
• Obtains images, produces film records, and transfers data to work stations.
• Performs contrast injections satisfactorily.
• Maintains knowledge of MRI safety per policy and standards.
• Sends images to PACS and verifies availability for interpretation.
• Enters and monitors patient data and maintains study documentation.
• Performs QA on MRI equipment and procedures.
• Maintains MRI lab supplies.
• Mentors staff in MRI procedures as assigned.
• Provides care across ages from newborn to geriatric.
• Ensures adherence to department policies and safety standards.
• Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in on-call rotation.

Education

Radiology program completed or equivalent military training

Two years experience in diagnostic radiology and one year MRI experience preferred

Tools

ARRT registered

BLS certification (or obtained within 90 days)

SC Radiation Quality Standards Association license
