UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time MRI Technologist to support the MRI Department in Downtown Pittsburgh!

We are offering a $15,000 sign-on bonus to eligible hires for a 2-year commitment or a $30,000 sign-on bonus for a 3-year commitment!

UPMC's brand new Monthly Loan Repayment Program, exclusively for December 2023 or later graduates, offers $9,000 in loan repayment paid over three years!

The MRI Technologist will work rotating shifts, including daylight, evening, and overnight hours, with two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts throughout the week. This role will work both weekday and weekend hours, as well as a holiday rotation to maintain coverage. No on-call or travel required!

The MRI Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision, with a focus for and alignment with the MRI Safety requirements for patients and staff alike. This role competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes. Previous experience with GE and Siemens scanner applications is preferred, but we welcome anyone with the willingness and ability to learn new systems!

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education, at manager discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data including the labeling, preparation, and administration of contrast.
  • Documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
  • Prior to start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.
  • Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all patient information is updated and documented in Rad Assessment, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.

  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
