Job summary

Novant Health is seeking an MR Technologist I to assist physicians and perform diagnostic MRI procedures. You will verify patient information, prepare and position patients, operate MRI equipment, and ensure patient safety and high-quality imaging. Collaboration with clinicians and ongoing certification upkeep are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2-Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program or MR Program, required.
  • Minimum of one year of MR experience preferred.
  • AR RT MR certification and ARRT registration within 6 months of hire, required.
  • State license/certification as applicable, required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MRI examinations according to physician orders and safety standards.
  • Verify patient identity, history, allergies, screening and consent prior to imaging.
  • Position and monitor patients to ensure safety, comfort and care during MRI procedures.
  • Operate MRI equipment and select imaging protocols, coils and sequences for diagnostic images.
  • Administer contrast media and perform venipuncture as appropriate.
  • Evaluate image quality and ensure proper patient identification and labeling.
  • Maintain MRI safety through screenings, monitoring, and emergency procedures.
  • Document procedures and utilize EMR, RIS, and PACS for records and workflow.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and staff to ensure safe patient experience.
  • Provide training and mentoring to students and new team members.

Job description

What We Offer

The MR Technologist I will assist physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and safely operating the MR equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans.

What You'll Do
  • Perform high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders, department protocols, and ARRT safety standards.
  • Verify patient identity, clinical history, allergies, screening requirements, and informed consent prior to imaging procedures.
  • Prepare, position, and monitor patients throughout MRI procedures while ensuring safety, comfort, and exceptional patient care.
  • Operate MRI equipment and select appropriate imaging protocols, coils, and pulse sequences to produce diagnostic-quality images.
  • Administer contrast media and perform venipuncture as appropriate and within scope of practice.
  • Evaluate image quality, ensure accurate patient identification and anatomical labeling, and transmit completed studies for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain MRI safety by conducting patient and equipment screenings, identifying contraindications, monitoring the MRI environment, and following emergency procedures.
  • Accurately document procedures and utilize EMR, RIS, and PACS systems to maintain patient records and workflow efficiency.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations while adhering to infection prevention, radiation/MR safety, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain required certifications, licensure, annual competencies, and continuing education.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide a safe, efficient, and remarkable patient experience.
  • Assist with training and mentoring students and new team members as appropriate.
What We're Looking For
  • Education: 2-Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program or MR Program, required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in MR, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • NH Medical Center-Certified and registered by ARRT in MR - RT(R)(MR) or RT(MR) within 6 months of hire, required.
    • NH Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility - Certified and Registered within 6 Months of hire in ARRT RT(R)(MR), required.
    • Hospital Outpatient Department-Certified and registered by ARRT in MR - RT(R)(MR) or RT(MR), required.
    • IV Credentialed, required.
    • Refer to the Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096 for life support training requirement.
    • Applicable state license, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Thorough knowledge of MRI imaging equipment, analytical ability and basic computer skills, ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to their age-specific needs, and good communication skills.
