Job Description

Magnetic resonance imaging technologists, also known as MRI technologists, utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. They must follow physician instructions, operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly, and record diagnostic images effectively.

Work Schedule

This position works Day/Evening Rotation, from 11:00 am—7:30 pm or 7:00 am—4:00 pm.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and check patients prior to MRI procedures.
2. Review patient questionnaires, charts, and data to determine contraindications.
3. Verify and validate patient safety forms.
4. Perform MRI procedures and daily quality assurance.
5. Perform venipunctures.
6. Educate patients about MRI procedures and equipment.
7. Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after exams.
8. Assist with scheduling patients.
9. Administer contrast agents as required.
10. Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via PACS.
11. Handle after-hours image transmission and documentation.
12. Report malfunctions and equipment issues promptly.
13. Maintain equipment uptime.
14. Process billing via RIS.
15. Potentially rotate through various imaging modalities and locations.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or equivalent.
2. Registered with ARRT in relevant credentials and in good standing.
3. Certification in MRI (R.T.(MR)) required within one year of hire.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
5. Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology.

Preferred Qualifications

1. One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist or in other imaging modalities.

Physical requirements include standing, walking, lifting, and manipulating equipment. Personal protective equipment must be used as required.
