General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for an MRI Technologist to join our team at Southern Maryland Hospital.

As an MRI Technologist, you will perform diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations according to established imaging protocols. You will provide efficient and effective patient care in high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations, ensuring high customer service aligned with hospital and organization values.

Primary Duties:

1. Conduct patient interviews to identify contraindicated implants, foreign bodies, and other medical conditions of concern. Identify and perform appropriate examinations based on patient history.
2. Verify prescription and protocol. Use appropriate imaging parameters. Inject contrast based on patient weight after verifying renal function. Verify image quality before ending the examination. Document examinations properly and ensure correctness in Cerner, PACS, Pen Rad, and Dyna CAD (when applicable).
3. Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory of supplies. Ensure the work area remains clean. Prepare films and CDs promptly upon request.
4. Assist with protocol development and implementation. Support training of new personnel and Radiology School students regarding procedures, imaging protocols, and department policies.
5. Collect quality control data such as film usage and equipment issues. Complete all required system functions for patient information, billing, and examinations.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or formal training from an AMA-accredited school of Radiologic Technology/Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
• Job-related experience and/or successful completion of a formal MRI educational training program.
• Successful completion of ARRT MRI or ARMRIT examination within one year of hire for unregistered technologists.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52.
