Job Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and introduce yourself. Prepare patients for procedures by performing medical assessments, including mental and physical evaluations, reviewing lab values, confirming patient identity, and explaining the examination process and time requirements. Record patient history, unusual conditions, and vital information.
- Attend regularly scheduled department meetings such as staff meetings, in-service training, etc.
- Train Radiologic Technology students.
- Identify problems and communicate with the supervisor, offering solutions when appropriate. Document patient incidents in the Peminic Incident Reporting System.
- Schedule patients and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth patient flow. Operate MRI scanner following hospital protocols and manufacturer guidelines. Demonstrate knowledge of equipment and workflow across all MRI departments. Ensure correct anatomic positioning skills.
- Follow physician orders and requisitions. Consult with radiologists or other physicians regarding examinations. Assist with special procedures (e.g., biopsies, abscess drainage), practice sterile techniques, and prevent cross-contamination.
- Provide radiation safety for patients, staff, and yourself according to safety standards.
- Restock and maintain workstations and equipment.
- Retrieve and load images, resolve system exceptions in PACS, track images to 'end procedure' in EPIC, and ensure all images are archived at shift end.
- Maintain MRI scanner protocols and procedures.
- Transfer MRI images to appropriate systems for interpretation.
- Maintain hygiene standards comparable to inpatient medical care sites.
