Job summary

McPherson Hospital in Kansas is seeking a PRN MRI technologist to produce high quality images and collaborate with the care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The role requires knowledge of MRI procedures, ability to learn RIS/HIS/PACS, and strong patient identification and safety practices, with multi-modality experience preferred including X-Ray and CT.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent formal training program.
  • Minimal experience required; 2-3 years experience preferred.
  • Multi-modality experience preferred, including X-Ray and CT.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures using proper positioning and protocols for optimal diagnostic value.
  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment and safety measures to prevent malfunctions.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of HIS, RIS and PACS systems used in the department.
  • Obtain proper patient identification and medical history for accurate care.
  • Use MRI safety measures and follow current protocol for contrast administration.
  • Other duties as required or requested.

JOB DESCRIPTION: MRI
Shift: PRN
JOB SUMMARY:

Produces high quality images for accurate interpretation while working collaboratively with other healthcare team members toward the best outcome for the patient and organization.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures using proper positioning and protocols for optimal diagnostic value.
  • Proficient in or ability and willingness to learn procedures in multiple modalities to assure adequate workload coverage.
  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment with ability to manipulate and maneuver safely as well as recognize malfunctions for safety of patient and operator.
  • Ability to learn and maintain a working knowledge of current HIS, RIS and PACS systems utilized within the department to ensure timely and accurate patient records.
  • Obtain proper patient identification and medical history needed to ensure consistent and accurate patient care.
  • Use MRI safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Prepare and administer oral and injected contrast media using proper technique and following current protocol and policy to provide optimal diagnostic value.
  • Other duties as required or requested.
Education/Experience:
  • Associates degree or equivalent formal training program
  • Minimal experience required; 2-3 years experience preferred
  • Multi-modality experience preferred, including X-Ray and CT
Licensure/Certification:
  • ARRT or ARRT Registry Eligible
  • Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
