Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian is actively seeking an MRI Tech Trainee to join our imaging team. The role offers full-time daylight shifts 8:00am–4:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, and opportunities to train at Lemieux and Rooney Sports Complex.

You will shadow licensed technologists, learn MRI protocols, safety guidelines, and patient education to prepare for independent MRI procedures. Under supervision, you will gain real-world experience in a fast-paced academic medical setting, meeting ARRT

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved School of Radiography.
ARRT MRI certification is required after completion of training.
Enrollment in advanced imaging programs (e.g., ARMRIT or Tesla Institute) is acceptable if aligned with program requirements.
Must complete Pulse Radiology program within one year of hire where applicable.
Maintains CPR and BLS certifications as required.

Responsibilities

Participate in comprehensive MRI training while shadowing licensed MRI Technologists.
Screen patients for contraindications prior to MRI procedures.
Educate patients on MRI exams to ensure comfort, understanding, and safety.
Perform MRI scans using established protocols once competency is demonstrated.
Accurately document patient histories and complete required paperwork.
Demonstrate competency in scanning patients of all ages.
Assist with clerical duties and inventory management as needed.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
Adhere to all UPMC Imaging Services and hospital policies and procedures.
