Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures using anatomy knowledge and MRI techniques.
  • Assists Radiologist in MRI interventional procedures and provides images for interpretation.
  • Follows MRI safety guidelines and provides safety education to staff and patients.
  • Adheres to patient identification, education, consents, order verification and infection control policies.
  • Participates in QA/QC procedures and maintains MRI equipment and image quality documentation.

Job Title: MRI Tech - Registered

Status: Per Diem
Department: Imaging Services
Location: Canton Potsdam Hospital - 50 Leroy Street Potsdam, NY 13676
Schedule: Days/Evening, M-F, 12hrs, 630am-7pm, on call requirement

SUMMARY

Operates MRI equipment and ancillary support systems to perform MRI procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs MRI procedures by utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning and MRI techniques. Maintains NYS IV certification for purposes of administering MRI IV contrast when ordered by Provider

  • Assists Radiologist in the performance MRI interventional procedures and provides appropriate images for interpretation.

  • Follows all regulatory and organizational guidelines for patient/staff screening and MRI Safety and provides MRI safety education to anyone who may have contact with the MRI equipment.

  • Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control

  • Participates in all QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs.

  • This includes processes involving MRI equipment, image quality, documentation and MRI safety

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of either Radiologic Technologist or MRI program.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) AHA-BLS, or obtain within 3 months of hire
  • NYS IV certification-per Article 35-Practice of Radiologic Technology, Section 3502
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Formal Advanced modality specialty training
  • Advanced Registry in MRI

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision‑making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask‑fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

PAY RANGE

$37.47 - $55.62

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
