Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures on patients, including preparation, positioning, and contrast administration.
  • Enter and monitor patient data; ensure technical quality of scans.
  • Conduct quality assurance on MRI equipment.
  • Assist with accreditation applications (ACR and others).
  • Report accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to management.
  • Answer emergency calls within the department.
  • Promote professional growth; mentor and support staff development.
  • Deliver compassionate, safe, and efficient patient care; align with service standards.

Job Summary

Lead Technologist in the Imaging Services department responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, providing expert MRI procedures, and serving as a clinical and operational leader.

Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI procedures on patients: prepare, explain, administer contrast when necessary, position patients, select imaging techniques, and ensure technical quality of scans.
  • Enter and monitor patient data.
  • Perform quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and matrix camera.
  • Assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
  • Identify and report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
  • Take emergency calls within the department.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, modelling service standards with safe, caring, and efficient care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • License/Certification: Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support; one of the following required: Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients; proficiency in MRI procedures; knowledge of interdepartmental and inter-hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines; strong leadership skills; ability to hold staff accountable; commitment to quality and risk reduction; willingness to act as a clinical resource person.
