Job Summary

This position performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures to create three dimensional images of tissue, organs and other body parts that are used by radiologists to detect abnormalities, make diagnoses and treat patients. The senior technologist serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to staff and assists management with supervisory responsibilities.

Job Description

As a senior MRI technologist, you will:

  • Perform MRI procedures on patients: prepare patients for the exam, explain the procedure, administer contrast when necessary, position patients for the MRI scanner, select appropriate imaging techniques, and ensure technical quality of the scan.
  • Enter and monitor patient data.
  • Perform quality assurance on magnetic resonance equipment and matrix camera.
  • Assist with initial and renewal application for ACR and other accreditation.
  • Identify and report any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunctions to department management.
  • Take emergency call within the department.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promote professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skill competency, supporting department-based goals, and serving as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
  • Model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • License/Certification: Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support, required. One (1) of the following required:
    • Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); or
    • Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to perform job functions.
