The position offers full‑time or part‑time options with a flexible schedule and compensation based on experience (DOE).

Qualifications

Description: Join Flagstaff Bone & Joint as an MRI and/or X-Ray Technologist and become part of a respected, physician-owned orthopedic practice where advanced imaging, compassionate patient care, and teamwork come together every day. This position is ideal for a versatile, patient-focused radiologic technologist who enjoys working across imaging modalities and wants to be part of an integrated orthopedic care environment. The technologist will perform high-quality MRI and/or diagnostic X-ray examinations in an outpatient orthopedic setting and may also have the opportunity to provide radiology support to the separate/independent Flagstaff Bone & Joint Surgery Center, located on the same campus. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a busy outpatient imaging environment, maintaining excellent image quality, prioritizing patient safety, and adapting to the needs of multiple specialties within orthopedics. The ability and willingness to work across MRI, X-ray, and surgery-center radiology is an important component of this role. We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented technologist who takes pride in safety, image quality, and creating a positive patient experience—and who wants to be part of a collaborative team that values clinical excellence, professionalism, and meaningful work.

Type: EITHER Full-time, 40 hours per week; OR Part-time, less than 30 hours per week

Responsibilities include:

MRI

• Perform MRI examinations according to established protocols and physician orders.
• Conduct thorough MRI safety screenings and identify contraindications or safety concerns associated with the magnetic field.
• Review patient history, prior imaging, and relevant clinical information to ensure appropriate examination preparation.
• Explain MRI procedures clearly to patients, answer questions, and provide reassurance to patients who may experience anxiety or claustrophobia.
• Establish IV access and administer contrast agents in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.
• Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or safety concerns.
• Optimize MRI protocols and imaging parameters to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety and efficiency.
• Evaluate completed examinations for diagnostic quality and ensure images meet Flagstaff Bone & Joint standards.
• Accurately document patient history, screening information, consent, imaging parameters, contrast administration, and other required information.

And/or X-Ray

• Perform radiographic examinations according to physician orders, established protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain high-quality images using appropriate positioning, technique, and exposure factors.
• Provide X-ray support for orthopedic clinic patients, including routine and specialty musculoskeletal imaging.
• Assist with imaging needs throughout the clinic as patient volume and operational needs require.
• Evaluate images for positioning, technical quality, and completeness before releasing examinations for interpretation.
• Maintain radiation safety practices for patients, staff, and visitors.

Surgery Center Radiology Support

• Provide radiology services and imaging support within the Flagstaff Bone & Joint Surgery Center as needed.
• Perform intraoperative or procedural radiographic imaging within the technologist's scope of practice, competency, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, nursing staff, and other surgical team members to support safe and efficient procedures.
• Maintain appropriate radiation safety practices and follow surgery-center policies and procedures.
• Participate in cross-training and competency development for surgery-center imaging responsibilities as applicable.

Patient Care & Workflow

• Greet, identify, and escort patients to the appropriate imaging area.
• Verify patient identity, exam orders, clinical history, and appropriate examination requirements.
• Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures in a clear, compassionate manner.
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy, comfort, and safety throughout the imaging experience.
• Manage a high volume of MRI and X-ray examinations while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and quality.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, surgery-center personnel, and other members of the care team.
• Recognize and appropriately respond to patient emergencies or changes in condition.

Requirements

To work as an MRI technologist with Flagstaff Bone and Joint, you need a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited X-Ray MRI training program, and state certification
