Job summary

University of Vermont Health - UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT is seeking an MRI Technologist to join a team dedicated to patient-centered care and high-quality imaging. The MRI Tech will perform complex MRI exams, ensure safety for patients with implants, and work under supervision of the Radiologist and MRI Supervisor.

The role requires a radiologic technology background, ARRT MRI certification preferred, and at least two years of radiology imaging experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT.
• ARRT, ARMRIT, or NMTCB MRI certification preferred.
• Two years of Radiology imaging experience.
• CE compliant according to governing body guidelines.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex MRI exams on varying strength magnets.
• Enforce MRI safety for patients with implants and those with claustrophobia.
• Assist Radiologist and MRI Supervisor under supervision.
• Maintain patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.

Job Summary:
An MRI Tech I is responsible for performing complex MRI exams on varying strength magnets using powerful magnetic fields combined with radiofrequency waves. The MRI Technologist must adapt to changes in technology, new imaging techniques, safe and effective imaging practices for patients with and without medical implants. These implants include pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices and electronic pumps that can cause severe injury and or death within the MRI environment. This position requires independent judgement, a comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects to human tissue, medical implants and the ability to enforce MRI safety. The candidate must possess inherent compassion for patients with claustrophobia and provide mechanisms to assist the patient in overcoming their discomfort. The Technologist operates under the general supervision of the Radiologist and the MRI Supervisor.

Education:
Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), ARRT MRI Certification preferred.

Experience:
Two years of Radiology imaging experience, cross sectional imaging and/or computer assisted
imaging preferred.

Knowledge/Special Skills:
For staff holding an ARRT license (not in MRI), Advanced MRI specific certification by ARRT isrequired within 2 years of hire within the MRI department. CE compliant according to governingbody guidelines. BLS certified. Technical knowledge and expertise in cross sectional anatomybeneficial, not required.
