Job description

Join the region's premier #1 pediatric health system as the Manager of MRI Operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Imaging Operations, you will provide operational leadership, technical oversight, and strategic direction across high-complexity MRI services. You will lead a dedicated team of 20.5 FTEs—including Lead Technologists and frontline staff—while collaborating closely with dedicated MR Physicists, Radiologists, and executive nursing leadership.

This role is ideal for an experienced imaging manager or an accomplished Lead MRI Technologist ready to make the jump into an executive-backed management role where leadership training and support are actively provided.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations & Portfolio Oversight: Oversee operations across 4 main campus MR magnets (two 1.5T, two 3T), a state-of-the-art intraoperative 3T MRI suite, and satellite locations (rare travel, ~1x per month or less).
  • People Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, educate, and empower a diverse team ranging in tenure from 45 days to 45 years. Focus on delegation, coaching, professional growth, and direct constructive accountability rather than taking over technical duties.
  • Complex Workflow Management: Serve as the operational lead for high-volume pediatric clinical flows, including general anesthesia and sedation workflows (30–40% of patient volume).
  • Safety & Quality Standards: Drive overall throughput, ACR standards, and MR safety protocols across all magnets. Serve as or work toward becoming the primary MR Safety Officer (MRSO).
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Maintain daily operational synergy with Radiologists, Nursing, Anesthesia, and peer modality managers (CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound).
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Certification: Active ARRT (MR) Advanced Certification and current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive healthcare supervisory/management experience OR a strong Lead MRI Technologist demonstrated readiness for a managerial step.
  • Leadership Style: A track record of empowering, coaching, and delegating to team members rather than an "I'll do it myself" mindset.
  • Accountability & EQ: Ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, deliver direct performance evaluations, and foster a transparent, supportive culture.
  • Operational Expertise: Deep technical understanding of MR safety, image quality, throughput optimization, and complex clinical workflows.
Preferred
  • Active MRSO (Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer) credential via ABMRS (Highly Preferred).
  • Prior experience in pediatric imaging or managing high-volume sedation/general anesthesia workflows.
Why Join Us?
  • Institutional Excellence: Work within a nationally ranked top-tier pediatric institution recognized on Forbes’ America's Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals.
  • Cutting-Edge Tech: Oversee advanced imaging modalities including advanced 3T systems and intraoperative MRI suites.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a rare hybrid leadership model (1 day per week remote) alongside standard weekday daytime business hours.
  • Growth & Support: Direct executive sponsorship to help train and mentor the right leader, plus a comprehensive relocation package for out-of-state candidates.
