Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is hiring a Line Sorter to sort and pick through refuse at our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) using optical sorting machinery. You will learn to identify products to keep recyclables out of the waste stream.

The role requires standing, exposure to outdoor temperatures, and working with conveyors. Physical labor and teamwork are essential, with potential exposure to odors and varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must meet physical standards as specified.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Experience in the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
• Must be a team player in close quarters with other staff.
• Sorter will stand on conveyors during the shift.

Responsibilities

• Sort recyclables on a moving conveyor belt.
• Stand for four hours at a time (depending on shift).
• Sweep during cleanup time.
• Light shoveling.
• Occasional lifting (less than 50 lbs).
• Familiarity with hand tools like pliers for cleaning baled product.
