Job summary

The McWane Plant & Industrial is seeking a General Worker to assist with plant operations using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials. You will handle general housekeeping and material handling, including loading and unloading trucks.

This role requires safety awareness and adherence to the McWane Way. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean work area, supporting supervisors, wearing the required PPE, and moving materials with cranes and forklifts.

Qualifications

• Some high school education; high school diploma/GED preferred.
• Material handling experience required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal safety and the safety of the team.
• Assist supervisors and managers to maintain a safe work environment.
• Wear PPE as required (fall protection, respiratory, hearing, eye, foot, hand, head).
• Keep assigned work areas clean and safe; maintain housekeeping.
• Proactively promote McWane Way principles.
• Remove trash and dispose of waste from each bay.
• Remove shavings and keep bay areas clean.
• Keep aisles clear and shop floors swept.
• Deliver packing lists to Shipping/Receiving and move packages to the appropriate person.
• Set up new coolant drums for machines throughout the shop.
• Empty oil containers from separators as needed.
• Deburr parts and prep for shipping finished goods.
• Load and unload incoming/outgoing trucks.
• Move parts with crane and forklift; obtain certification as required.
• Perform other tasks as needed.

Job Description

The General Worker will perform various tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials. As the General Worker, you will also be tasked with general housekeeping and material handling as needed, including loading and unloading trucks.

Scope Of Responsibilities

• 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
• Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
• Wear appropriate PPE, which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
• Responsible for cleanliness of the assigned work area as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• Proactively promotes the McWane Way principles.
• Trash removal and disposal from each bay.
• Remove and dispose of shavings from each bay.
• Assist with keeping aisleways clear and sweeping the shop floors.
• Take packages from the warehouse receiving rack to the appropriate person and deliver packing lists to Shipping/Receiving
• Assist with setting up new coolant drums for machines throughout the shop.
• Empty oil containers from the oil/water separators as needed.
• Debur parts and prep to ship finished goods.
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks.
• Move and handle parts with crane and fork trucks.
• Other tasks and duties as needed.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to hold, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• The employee is required to communicate both verbally and written in English.
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to meet and adhere to physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection)
• Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
• Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus and determine and distinguish color.
• Must have the ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification.

Position Requirements

• Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
• Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
• Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
• Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
• Must have the ability to operate forklift or overhead crane.
• Will be required to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
