Job summary

Chubb in Johnston, RI is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the crop insurance underwriting process. You will enter policy data, review applications, and assist with training and day-to-day tasks in a collaborative team.

Requires High School or GED, or a bachelor's degree, plus 6 months as an Underwriter Assistant at Rain and Hail or 1 year crop underwriting experience. Knowledge of MPCI rules and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or higher.
• At least 6 months as an Underwriter Assistant at Rain and Hail or 1 year crop underwriting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is acceptable in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Examine insurance documents and apply MPCI underwriting rules.
• Enter policy data and production data into the computer; verify and correct records.
• Communicate by phone and letter with agents, county offices, field personnel, and policyholders to obtain information and answer questions.
• Review scanned documents and route to appropriate work queues.
• Prepare, print, and analyze various reports and policy forms.
• Assist with training of Underwriting Assistant and part-time personnel.
• Assist with other duties as necessary.
