Job summary

Banyule City Council is seeking a motivated Mowing Hand / Truck Driver to support the Parks and Gardens team across council reserves. You’ll maintain landscapes to high standards, operate mowing equipment and light vehicles, and contribute to safe, efficient outdoor maintenance.

The role offers full-time hours, a fortnightly RDO, and opportunities for learning and development within a collaborative team. A current Medium Rigid licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Current Medium Rigid driver’s licence.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Functional Capacity Assessment.

Join our Parks Presentation Team and help shape the green spaces of our community.

We’re seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Mowing Hand / Truck Driver to support the delivery of high-quality horticultural services across Council’s parks and gardens. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and presenting our landscapes to the highest standards.

Banyule City Council boasts a wealth of open space and parklands, featuring both exotic and native vegetation of historical and environmental significance. The Parks and Gardens department oversees the care and development of Over 200 parks and reserves, 50 sports fields, 163 playgrounds, more than 75,000 street trees, an extensive shared trail network, and a wide range of park furniture and assets that enrich the urban landscape.

As The Mowing Hand / Truck Driver, You’ll
  • Maintain high-quality horticultural assets by applying professional practices and sound horticultural principles across Council landscapes and garden areas.
  • Operate and maintain mowing and light mechanical equipment (e.g., Out Front Mower, brush cutter, chainsaw) safely and efficiently to meet Parks Maintenance targets.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with OH&S standards while reporting hazards and maintaining accurate logs and records.
What You'll Bring/what We Are Looking For
  • A demonstrated commitment to our values.
  • Demonstrated high level customer focused approach.
  • Safe and competent driving of vehicles up to 13.9 tonnes GCM with a current Medium Rigid driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating Out Front Mowers competently, and safe and competent operation of light mechanical plant including brush cutter, blower, edger, hand mower, additional experience with hedge trimmers. chain saw, post hole digger would be desirable
  • Previous experience working effectively in a team environment.

  • Current Medium Rigid driver’s licence.

  • Salary of $72,697.90 per annum plus super.
  • A permanent full-time position with a fortnightly RDO.
  • Working Monday to Friday from 7.00am to 3.56pm (during daylight Savings 6.30am to 3.26pm).
