Job description

**This is a PART-TIME, CONTRACTUAL C2 Position**

The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Pharmacy (UMSOP) is seeking to hire a part-time Moving & Storage Specialist within the Deans Administration's department of Facilities & Laboratory Services. Under general supervision of the Director of Facilities and Laboratory Services, the Moving & Storage Specialist will perform an array of duties related to moving and storage in a laboratory environment. The Specialist will be responsible for conducting routine inspections of the School of Pharmacy and its three (3) annex buildings on campus. Using a predefined list of designated rooms and areas, the specialist will provide moving and storage needs; promptly identifying any issues. Upon determining the necessary actions, the specialist will initiate and submit work orders into the campus' Workplace Management System to ensure timely resolution of moving and storage needs. Note: This position will not be responsible for performing laboratory research.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Moving tables and chairs in the PH Atrium and Gallery to set up events.
  • Facilitating deliveries by greeting delivery personnel at the dock, ensuring that the delivery reaches its destination, and breaking down boxes for recycling.
  • Assisting with clearing and setting up offices.
  • Distributing, relocating, and storing property, equipment, and supplies. Preparing office furniture and equipment for moving and storage.
  • Performing minor assembly and disassembly of furniture and equipment in preparation for movement and/or storage.
  • Keeping records pertinent to moving and storage operations.
  • Supporting the biannual inventory.
  • Packing, moving, and/or discarding non-hazardous laboratory materials.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: Two years related work experience.

OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Skill in operating warehouse material handling equipment; in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to lead and train others in packing and moving furnishings, materials, and equipment; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to follow directions; to read, comprehend and apply OSHA/MOSHA requirements; to perform extensive standing, walking, climbing and frequent heavy lifting; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Basic proficiency using computers and software preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. A non-commercial Class C or commercial Class B or equivalent driver's license valid in the State of Maryland may be required. If required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License, employees will be subjected to drug and alcohol education and testing as required under Federal Highway Administration and the State of Maryland regulations.

HIRING RANGE: $36,123.46- $40,000 per year at 80% FTE (Commensurate with education and experience)
