Qualifications

• One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.
• Must have a valid Class D Driver's License.
• Experience operating trucks and moving equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates stakes body or flat bed trucks with a GVW rating of 10,000 to 26,000 pounds to transport various material, equipment, office furnishing, chemical drums and other materials as required for the operation of the university. On occasion may also operate smaller vehicles such as van, pick up trucks or enclosed trucks.
• Directs and oversees the loading and unloading of vehicles, material handling, moving office furnishings and performs all the same functions as Laboring personnel involved these services.
• Exercise supervision over Laborers, Helpers, Mobile Equipment Operators and Custodians in moving and hauling services, setting up for special events, moving University Department, moving heavy research and laboratory equipment; knowledge of material handling and related moving equipment; may supervise student workers.
• Operates a boom truck with a boom rating 8,000 pounds and GVW rating 22,000 pounds; operates forklifts and scissors lifts with lifting capacity over 10,000 pounds or lift height of 12 feet; uses safety cages and extenders; power washing.
• Picks up and delivers surplus property to university/state warehouses; verifies deliveries against tags and paperwork; checks work by laborers to ensure accuracy and maintains inventory control.
• Makes recommendations regarding rigging of loads, moving material, including technique, manpower and equipment required.
• Sets up and assembles staging from 10" to 42" high and risers; inspects completed work for safety and functionality.
• Supervises laboring personnel performing miscellaneous physical labor; assembles furniture and event setups using hand tools; makes minor repairs on event furniture; other duties as assigned.
• One year of experience in mobile equipment operations.
