Job summary

The University of Southern Mississippi is seeking a Moves, Adds, Changes Coordinator to act as an IT consultant for Networking and Telephony MAC requests in Hattiesburg, MS. You will assess cabling needs, prepare parts estimates, and coordinate with departments and vendors for MAC completion.

Responsibilities

• Serve as IT consultant to determine technical needs for Networking/Telephony MAC projects.
• Estimate total costs for cabling, parts, equipment and prepare parts assessments.
• Coordinate MAC projects with University staff, MS Bureau of Buildings and vendors across campuses.
• Manage and coordinate tasks with team members and external vendors through MAC lifecycle.
• Obtain quotes from contractors/vendors and schedule installations with customers.
• Locate, mark, terminate, and determine cable paths for copper and fiber cabling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Works with university departments as an IT consultant for networking and telephony MAC (moves/adds/changes) requests. Assesses needs for cabling, parts, equipment, and other technology components. Works with outside vendors to obtain cost estimates for projects. After MAC requests are approved and funded, manages technical work with departments and vendors through MAC completion.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as University IT consultant to determine technical needs and requirements for Networking/Telephony MAC(moves/adds/changes) project requests.
• Assesses needs for cabling, parts, equipment, and other technology components and works closely with appropriate staff members to estimate total cost of these items and prepare parts assessments.
• Serves as iTech liaison and representative on University-level MAC projects on all campuses. Works closely with USM Physical Plant and MS Bureau of Buildings to ensure technology specifications are up-to-date and appropriate for the MAC request.
• Works closely with the other iTech teams to coordinate projects and understand technology requirements and regulations. Manages and coordinates tasks with team members and vendors throughout the MAC lifecycle.
• Works closely with contractors/vendors to obtain quotes. Schedules installations with customers and contractors.
• Locates, marks, terminates, splices, and determines cable paths for outside copper and fiber plants.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’sdegree from an accredited college or university in an IT related field of studyand a minimum of three years of related experience. Related experience may be substituted for theeducation requirement on a year-for-year basis. Validdriver’s license required.

• Consulting skills to be able to scope projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred.
