Job summary

University Van Lines is seeking helpers to assist with moving projects in Rahway, NJ. You will protect belongings, load and unload trucks, disassemble and reassemble furniture, and carefully place items per customer requests.

The role involves outdoor work and requires punctual attendance and respectful communication in customers' homes. Starting at 7:00 AM with the potential for advancement from Helper to Driver to Crew Lead, this position offers year-round work and paid training.

Qualifications

• Able to repeatedly lift up to 75 lbs and carry up stairs
• Reliable transportation to Rahway for 7:00 AM start
• Speak with customers respectfully in their home
• 18 years or older and authorized to work in the US

Responsibilities

• Pad, wrap and protect furniture before it moves an inch
• Load and unload trucks according to crew lead's plan
• Disassemble and reassemble beds, tables and modular furniture
• Pack cartons to order (dishes, glass, artwork, wardrobes)
• Move vaults and inventory in and out of the Rahway warehouse
• Walk the home with the customer at job end

University Van Lines has been moving New Jersey families and businesses since 1975. We run our own crews and our own warehouse in Rahway. No brokers, no day-labor.

You are on the truck every day, protecting people's belongings and representing the company in their home. Pad and shrink-wrap furniture, disassemble and reassemble, carry and load, place items where the customer wants them, and leave the home clean.

• Load and unload trucks under the crew lead's plan
• Disassemble and reassemble beds, tables and modular furniture
• Pack cartons to order - dishes, glass, artwork, wardrobes
• Move vaults and inventory in and out of our Rahway warehouse
• Walk the home with the customer at the end of the job

Requirements

• Reliable transportation to Rahway for a 7:00 AM start
• Able to repeatedly lift 75 lbs and carry it up and down stairs
• Comfortable working outdoors in heat and cold
• Show up on time, every scheduled day
• Speak with customers respectfully in their home
• 18 or older, authorized to work in the US

Pay

$16.00 - $20.00 per hour
