Job summary

University Van Lines has been moving New Jersey families and businesses since 1975. We run our own crews and our own warehouse in Rahway. No brokers, no day-labor.

You drive a straight truck under 26,001 lbs GVWR and you work the move alongside your crew. This is not a drive-only seat - you are on the pads and the dolly with everyone else.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• 21 or older (insurance requirement).
• Experience driving a 16' to 26' box truck.
• Able to repeatedly lift 75 lbs and perform a full physical day.
• DOT medical card or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Drive a box or straight truck to residential and commercial jobs across NJ and NYC.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects the same day.
• Run the job with the crew: pad, wrap, load, transport, unload, place.
• Handle paperwork - bill of lading, inventory, customer signature.
• Navigate tight driveways, loading docks and low-clearance approaches.
• Keep the truck clean, fueled and loaded with pads, straps and dollies.

Requirements:

• 21 or older (insurance requirement)
• Experience driving a 16' to 26' box truck
• Able to repeatedly lift 75 lbs and work a full physical day
• DOT medical card, or able to obtain one
• Comfortable being customer-facing when the crew lead is not on site

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Benefits and other compensation: Year-round work, not seasonal. Overtime paid at time and a half for hours worked over 40 in a week. Paid training on our equipment and procedures. Advancement from Helper to Driver to Crew Lead is how most of our crew leads got the job.
