Job summary

The University of Florida School of Theatre + Dance invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Movement & Acting with a focus on movement-based actor training. The role includes teaching undergrad and grad courses, movement coaching for productions, and potential directing opportunities.

We seek candidates who integrate movement and embodiment into contemporary performance and who contribute to a dynamic, student-centered community.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree (MFA, PhD, or PhD ABD) in Theatre or closely related field, or equivalent qualifications.
• Potential for national or international recognition and achievement in the field.
• Evidence of collaboration with faculty, students, and staff, and commitment to inclusive practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead movement training to develop actor’s physical, expressive, and embodied skills.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including movement, stage combat, and possibly acting.
• Mentor BFA and MFA students for career preparation.
• Provide movement coaching for School productions and perform fight direction/intimacy direction for multiple productions yearly.
• Contribute to recruitment and retention of acting students and participate in program community.
