The Movable Bridge Unit in Mechanicsburg, PA, and Philadelphia, PA offices is seeking Bridge Design Engineers with interest and experience in Movable Bridge Design.

About the Unit

This team focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges. Projects include designing new structures, inspecting and rehabilitating existing bridges, and monitoring bridges using various gauges and instrumentation. The staff comprises Structural, Electrical, Mechanical Engineers, and CADD Technicians.

Position Overview

Positions and Locations

• Entry Level (0-4 years): Mechanicsburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA
• Mid-Level (4-10 years): Mechanicsburg, PA; Philadelphia, PA

Ideal Candidates

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited); MS preferred
• Relevant coursework in Bridge Design, Structural Steel, Reinforced Concrete, Finite Element Modeling
• For Entry Level: Valid EI certification or in progress
• For Mid-Level: Within 6 months of obtaining PE license

Responsibilities

• Structural analysis and design using various software
• Reviewing calculations, drawings, and developing preliminary details in CAD
• Performing quantity take-offs, preparing reports, and supporting field activities
