Job summary

Alterra Mountain Company’s Solitude Mountain Resort seeks an Operations Specialist for the mountain operations team. This non-supervisory, field-heavy role manages resources for up to 15 employees and reports to Patrol leadership.

You will oversee two duty stations, coordinate trainings, and ensure safety protocols, incident documentation, and emergency care. The position is seasonal full-time with union representation and a focus on leveraging strong communication and leadership in the field.

Qualifications

• Must be employed as a Solitude Mountain Patroller.
• Avalanche Pro 1 certification preferred.
• 3 years of patrol experience at Solitude.
• 3 years of avalanche mitigation experience at a class A resort preferred.
• Strong communication, decision making, and leadership skills.
• Adept at utilizing and coaching 2-way radio communications.
• A thorough understanding of Solitude operations.
• Ski Patrol level 2 or above.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of one of two duty stations.
• Oversees, trains, and ensures AM and PM sweeps are conducted and documented in accordance with SOPs.
• Trains line patrollers in proper documentation of incidents.
• Communicates and coordinates operations with patrol leadership.
• Provides emergency care to those in need of assistance and can train line patrollers in emergency care.
• Provides training to line patrollers in Ski Patrol level 2 skills and below.
• Support and assist all other specialist roles with training and coordination.
• Collaborate with patrol leadership and other specialists on equipment needs, repairs, and replacement schedule.
• Ensure all patient information is collected and recorded in accordance with standards.
