  • Assist guests who are injured or lost and support Mountain Patrol when needed.
  • Maintain radio communications and knowledge of lifts, trails, and base-area operations.
  • Support guest flow, events, and mountain tours.

  • Complete required logs and incident reports accurately.
  • Participate in training and safety meetings.

Description

Mountain Guest Services team members are highly visible ambassadors for Sun Valley Resort, creating welcoming, safe, and memorable mountain experiences for our guests. This position provides information andassistancethroughout Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, and related base-area operations while supporting guest safety, mountain operations, andspecial events. The ideal candidate is dependent, service-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced alpine environment whiledemonstratingsound judgment,strong communication, and teamwork.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional guest service by welcoming guests, answering questions, providing directions, and sharing accurate information about mountain operations, resort amenities, and services while serving as a positive Sun Valley ambassador.
  • Anticipate guest needs, take ownership of concerns, and provide appropriate assistance or connect guests with the appropriate department.
  • Prioritize guest and employee safety by identifying hazards, following safety procedures, educating guests on mountain safety, and promptly reporting concerns to Leads, Supervisors, Mountain Dispatch, Ski Patrol, or other appropriate departments.
  • Assist guests who are injured, lost, separated from their group, or otherwise in need of assistance, and support Ski Patrol and Mountain Operations during incidents, searches, lift-down situations, evacuations, closures, and other operational situations as trained and directed.
  • Maintain clear and professional radio communication and a working knowledge of Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, lifts, trails, base areas, transportation, operating conditions, and relevant Resort products and amenities.
  • Support guest flow, lift lines, transportation areas, base-area operations, special events, and other guest-facing programs and services, including mountain tours, courtesy rides, bag check, lost and found, and family zones.
  • Set up, maintain, and put away operational equipment, including signs, barricades, information boards, ski racks, wagons, and other guest-service equipment.
  • Perform snow and ice removal and maintain clean, organized, and professional work areas.
  • Complete required logs, incident reports, checklists, and other department documentation accurately and timely.
  • Participate in required training and meetings, including orientation, safety, radio, mountain awareness, de-escalation, and event training.
  • Maintain reliable attendance, remain at assigned work locations as directed, and collaborate with coworkers and other Resort departments to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability with the ability to safely and confidently navigate assigned terrain in varying winter conditions.
  • Previous guest service, hospitality, recreation, resort, or mountain operations experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for providing exceptional guest service.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and exercise sound judgment in changing or high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use two-way radios, scheduling and training systems, and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, operating instructions, maps, schedules, and department policies.
  • Familiarity with Sun Valley, Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, and the Wood River Valley is a plus.
  • Additional language skills and current First Aid/CPR certification are beneficial.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, peak periods, and special events.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard for extended periods and safely navigate snow, ice, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; frequently bend, reach, push, pull, shovel, and carry equipment; and utilize hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying alpine weather conditions, including cold, wind, snow, sun, and changing visibility.
  • Ability to wear required uniforms and safety equipment and communicate effectively in an active outdoor environment.
