Job summary

Sun Valley Resort in Sun Valley, Idaho is seeking dependable Lift Operators to provide a safe and welcoming experience for guests using our chairlifts. This role supports mountain operations and guest service, ensuring safe loading and unloading for guests of all ages.

The position requires outdoor work in winter conditions, strong communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates should be available for early mornings, weekends, and holidays throughout the winter season.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to work outdoors and in various weather elements
  • Skiing or snowboarding ability of intermediate or above preferred
  • Available to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays during the winter season (6 a.m.)
  • Able to work through the entire winter season
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to hear and respond to instructions
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and using hands to grip, handle, and reach
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Follow company/department safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to work independently or in a small group to accomplish daily job-related tasks.
  • Complete pre-operational procedures and inspections.
  • Assist in snow removal, daily set up, and routine maintenance of work areas.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service above and beyond guest expectations.
  • Remain alert for guests improperly loading and unloading the ski lifts.
  • Assist with completing lift closing procedures.
  • Work with all mountain departments respectfully in assisting and resolving issues that could arise during the operations.

Description

The Sun Valley Lift Operations team is seeking dependable, guest-focused Lift Operators to provide a safe and welcoming experience for guests using our chairlifts. This position plays a vital role in mountain operations and guest service. Lift Operators are responsible for the safe loading and unloading of guests of all ages and abilities while maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of lift stations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow company/department safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to work independently or in a small group to accomplish daily job-related tasks.
  • Complete pre-operational procedures and inspections.
  • Assist in snow removal, daily set up and routine maintenance of work areas.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service above and beyond guest expectations.
  • Remain alert for guests improperly loading and unloading the ski lifts.
