Job summary

Vail Resorts is seeking a Culinary Assistant Manager for the Butte 66 Employee Housing area in Crested Butte, CO. The role partners with the GM to lead the kitchen, ensure food quality and safety, and drive operational efficiency while upholding company standards.

You will oversee back‑of‑house operations, staff development, and adherence to safety and sanitation protocols to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of restaurant experience with at least 1 year in a managerial role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Leadership, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Communication and customer service skills.
• TIPS certification within 30 days of employment.
• Serve Safe Food Protection Manager certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist GM in day-to-day operations of the restaurant, including hiring, scheduling and coaching the culinary team.
• Maintain standards for facility, food prep, cleanliness and safety per laws and policies.
• Develop, train and quality-check menu items and station playbooks.
• Lead daily briefings and weekly safety meetings with staff.
• Oversee inventory, ordering, stock levels and waste reporting.
• Resolve guest issues to protect GX scores and guest satisfaction.
• Support budgets, labor and operating expenses; assist with payroll and timekeeping.
• Conduct compliance logs, training records and safety documentation.
