Trek is seeking an experienced mountain bike trails builder to develop, maintain, and grow Trek's private trail system at our global headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin. You will design, build, and maintain trails, while supporting events and coordinating with partners and Trek teams.

You'll spend most of your time building and maintaining world-class trails, while also supporting events, managing key partnerships, and helping bring Trek's mission to life: **Ride Bikes. Have Fun. Feel Good.**The ideal candidate is a self-driven, hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, understands mountain bike culture, and has the vision and technical expertise to create engaging, sustainable trail experiences. Strong arborist, chainsaw, excavator, and equipment maintenance skills are highly valued, along with the ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain an unwavering commitment to safety.This role reports to Trek's Event Manager and works closely with the Events Team and other internal partners across the business.**Key Responsibilities****Trail Development & Maintenance (65%)*** Maintain and improve approximately 15 miles of mountain bike trails.* Design, build, and expand trail systems on existing and future properties.* Perform trail inspections and proactively address safety, erosion, and maintenance needs.* Maintain grounds and outdoor gathering areas, including the barn, firepit, and surrounding property.* Operate, maintain, and perform basic repairs on equipment, including mini-excavators, mowers, tractors, and trail vehicles.* Maintain and service chainsaws, power tools, blowers, and other trail-building equipment.* Ensure trails, facilities, vehicles, and tools remain safe, functional, and ready for use.**Planning, partnerships & communication (15%)*** Build and manage relationships with employees, landowners, community partners, and government agencies to support trail access, easements, permits, property initiatives, and event operations.* Manage and effectively communicate the calendar of events at the trails with all involved parties.* Manage seasonal intern(s) by creating project plans, assigning work, and ensuring successful completion.* Work with local officials on permitting, land-use, and property improvement projects.* Coordinate with Trek facilities and maintenance teams on property improvements and land stewardship initiatives.* Support long-term planning, stakeholder engagement, and partnership agreements related to trails, events, and land development.**Event & additional support (20%)*** Support the setup, execution, and teardown of some Trek-hosted events.* Maintain a positive, team-first attitude during demanding and long event days.* Assist with loading, transporting, and dismantling event infrastructure.* Travel to a few major cycling events and represent Trek professionally within the cycling community.* Assist other Trek teams in the offseason, as needed.**Ideal candidate*** Passionate about mountain biking culture, outdoor recreation, and trail stewardship.* Experienced in trail building, trail maintenance, and land management.* Skilled in operating and maintaining equipment such as excavators, tractors, chainsaws, and power tools.* Highly adaptable, dependable, and self-motivated.* Comfortable working independently and managing priorities with minimal supervision.* Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with landowners, government agencies, contractors, employees, volunteers, and community partners.* Practical problem-solver with sound judgment.* Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy materials, performing manual labor, and working outdoors in varying conditions.* Willing to pitch in wherever needed and embrace the variety that comes with the role.* Dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment and an excellent safety record.* Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.**Trek Benefits:**• Flexible and fun company culture • Competitive health care • PPO & HDHP medical plan options, Dental insurance, Vision insurance • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) • Free life insurance & optional term life insurance • Competitive vacation package • 401(k) with match and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) • 12 weeks of maternity leave with 100% pay • Flexible holiday schedule – 10 company holidays • Tuition Reimbursement up to $15,000!
