Job summary

Sunrise Park Resort is seeking a Mountain Bike Trail Crew Member to perform hands-on construction and maintenance across the trail network. The role combines technical trail work, safe tool use, environmental stewardship, documentation, and guest interaction in remote and physically demanding terrain.

The position requires basic outdoor labor experience, ability to operate hand tools, and willingness to travel to remote work zones. Weekend, holidays, and outdoor conditions are expected.

Qualifications

• Basic experience with outdoor labor or physically demanding roles.
• Ability to safely use common hand tools after training and to learn trail-building techniques.
• Experience operating or working with trail-building equipment and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Construct, shape, repair, and maintain natural-surface trails and related features per plans and crew directions.
• Perform tread work including excavation, grading, compaction, drainage, and erosion control.
• Inspect trails for safety issues and document/raise issues beyond authority or training.
• Operate and maintain hand tools and approved power equipment.
• Support trail openings, closures, reroutes, and post-weather recovery; install barricades and signs as directed.
• Travel to remote work zones by foot, bike, or vehicle; communicate closures and route alternatives to guests.

Position Summary

The Mountain Bike Trail Crew Member performs hands-on construction and maintenance across the trail network. The role combines technical trail work, safe tool use, environmental stewardship, documentation, and guest interaction in remote and physically demanding terrain.

Essential Duties

Construct, shape, repair, and maintain natural-surface trails, drainage systems, berms, rollers, jumps, rock features, bridges, signage, and related infrastructure according to approved plans and crew direction.

Perform tread work including excavation, grading, compaction, armoring, vegetation clearing, erosion control, drainage cleaning, and rehabilitation of disturbed areas.

Inspect assigned trails and features; identify erosion, instability, sightline, drainage, vegetation, signage, and user-safety concerns; document and elevate issues that exceed authority or training.

Operate and maintain hand tools and approved power equipment.

Support trail openings, closures, reroutes, event preparation, and post-weather recovery; install and maintain barricades and warning signs as directed.

Travel to remote work zones by foot, bicycle, utility vehicle, or lift as authorized.

Use tactful guest communication to explain closures, alternate routes, trail etiquette, and operational conditions.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Basic experience with outdoor labor, landscaping, construction, forestry, trail work, or a comparable physically demanding role.
• Ability to use common hand tools safely after training and to learn trail-building techniques and inspection procedures.
• Experience operating compactersw, chainsaws, brush cutters, mini-excavators, skid steers, or utility vehicles with role-appropriate training or credentials.

Working Conditions

• Requires weekends, holidays, and outdoor work during winter operations.
• Regularly stand, hike, balance, bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, grip, and perform repetitive tool work for extended periods on steep, uneven, loose, muddy, or rocky terrain.
• Frequently lift and carry up to [50] pounds independently and heavier or awkward materials with team or mechanical assistance.
• Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, smoke, insects, high elevation, and rapidly changing weather, sometimes at remote locations with delayed access to facilities.
