Job Description
Join Ohio’s Premier Motorcycle Dealership – State 8 Motorcycles
State 8 Motorcycles is one of Ohio’s leading motorcycle dealerships, offering an incredible selection of new and pre-owned motorcycles, expert service, and parts. Located in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, we provide top-notch customer service, a broad selection of brands, and factory-trained technicians who are dedicated to keeping riders on the road. If you’re passionate about motorcycles, love hands-on work, and enjoy interacting with customers, this hybrid position is a great opportunity for you!
Position Overview: As a Motorcycle Service & Operations Specialist at State 8 Motorcycles, you will combine the responsibilities of a Porter—ensuring motorcycles are well-organized, clean, and ready for service—with those of a Service Advisor—working closely with riders to assess their service needs, provide accurate estimates, and ensure high-quality service. This role requires versatility, as you will move between hands-on tasks and customer service throughout your day. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys interacting with both motorcycles and people.
Key Responsibilities:
Porter Duties:
- Safely move motorcycles within the dealership and service area, ensuring proper handling and care of vehicles.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service area and showroom, including washing motorcycles, cleaning service bays, and ensuring bikes are ready for customer pickup or delivery.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring parts and accessories are properly stocked and organized.
- Help technicians with the preparation and delivery of motorcycles as needed, ensuring a smooth service workflow.
- Assist in the delivery and pickup of motorcycles from customers, ensuring timely and safe handling of bikes.
Service Advisor Duties:
- Greet riders promptly and assist with service inquiries, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
- Understand customer needs and document service requests accurately, recommending necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Provide accurate service estimates and help riders understand the work that is required for their motorcycles.
- Present and discuss motorcycle financing options, warranty packages, and available upgrades to help riders make informed decisions.
- Schedule service appointments and ensure timely communication between riders and technicians.
- Regularly update riders on the status of their motorcycles throughout the service process.
- Manage service orders from start to finish, including creating and updating work orders, tracking progress, and finalizing all service details.
- Follow up with riders after service to ensure satisfaction and build long-term relationships for repeat business.
- Identify upsell opportunities such as maintenance packages, performance upgrades, or accessories that enhance the rider's experience.
- Process service payments and ensure accurate service documentation.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a service department preferred, automotive or powersports industry, a plus.
- Strong passion for motorcycles with a basic understanding of motorcycle features, performance, and types (training will be provided as needed).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with riders and team members.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail, ensuring accurate service orders and timely work completion.
- Comfortable with both physical tasks (moving and maintaining motorcycles) and customer-facing responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Positive, motivated attitude with a strong desire to meet and exceed service goals.
- Comfortable with basic computer systems and point-of-sale software for tracking service orders and payment processing.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record to move motorcycles as needed.
- Flexibility to shift between porter and service advisor duties depending on department needs and customer flow.
A Day in the Life of a Motorcycle Service & Operations Specialist at State 8 Motorcycles:
- Morning: You begin by checking in with the service team, reviewing the day’s service schedule, and ensuring that all motorcycles in for service are properly staged and ready for technicians. Riders may start arriving, and you greet them, taking note of their service needs. You’ll move bikes into the service bays, wash any bikes that need to be prepped, and organize the service area to keep it clean and efficient.
- Midday: A rider arrives with a bike needing a major repair. You consult with them to understand the issue, provide them with an estimate, and create a service order for the technicians. You’ll follow up with other riders to keep them updated on the progress of their motorcycles, ensuring they feel informed and valued.
- Afternoon: In the afternoon, you continue working with potential buyers, walking them through the purchasing process, and answering any lingering questions. You may need to help coordinate test rides or assist riders with last-minute details to finalize their purchase. At the end of the day, you’ll check in on your sales targets and make adjustments to your approach to ensure you meet or exceed expectations.
