Job summary

Virginia Western Community College is seeking Part‑Time Motorcycle Instructors to teach the MSF basic rider safety course for students pursuing licensing for 2-wheel or 3-wheel motorcycles. Qualifications

Job description

Position Overview

Virginia Western Community College is seeking Part‑Time Motorcycle Instructors for the School of Business, Technology and Trades. The role involves teaching the basic rider safety course based on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum to students who wish to obtain licensing for 2‑wheel or 3‑wheel motorcycles. Instructors are expected to maintain currency in their teaching discipline and may be called upon to assist in emergency situations or other duties as required by the agency or state government.

Responsibilities
  • Teach MSF basic rider safety courses to students on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Maintain current instructor certification and instructional currency.
  • Assist with emergency declaration activities for the Governor when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and support agency or state governmental needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma and at least five years of motorcycle riding experience.
  • Valid Virginia operator’s license with a motorcycle endorsement.
  • Good driving record.
  • Current MSF Rider Coach certification and completion of training for the BRCu curriculum.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with students of varying ability levels from diverse backgrounds.
  • Teaching experience is an additional consideration.
Schedule & Work Environment

Work hours are flexible: daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on Fridays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with additional weekdays or evenings as needed and arranged with coach and potential students.
