Job Title: Motor Equipment Operator II - Water- IN HOUSE

Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 20 / $21.83 Per Hour (Based on Qualifications)

Department: Water-Wastewater

Hours: Full-Time

Job Description:

The City of Dover is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Motor Equipment Operator II – Water (skilled labor) in the Water & Wastewater Utility Department. The primary duties of this position are to assist the Water/Wastewater crew in the installation, repair, operation and maintenance of all water and wastewater facilities within the City through the operation of specialized motor equipment, hands and power tools.

Job Responsibilities

  • Installation and repair of watermains and services
  • Installation and repair of sewer lines and laterals
  • Perform regular water system flushing
  • Utilize a jetter/vacuum truck to clean and maintain sewer lines

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training
  • Valid Delaware Commercial Driving License
  • Requires 2 years of related experience
  • Work on a rotating on-call schedule, as well as night shifts for 2 - 3 weeks period each year

A criminal background and driver’s license investigation will be required. Candidates may be given a job-related test during the interview.
