Overview

Delaware's Largest Cancer Treatment Group - Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants, Newark & Middletown, DE

We are a private practice comprising 11 physicians and 10 APPs, dedicated to providing quality cancer care to our local community. Affiliated with the US Oncology Network, we are part of one of the nation's largest networks of community-based oncology practices committed to high-quality, evidence-based cancer care. Our board-certified physicians specialize in Hematology, Medical Oncology, Palliative Care Medicine, and breast surgery, with training from nationally and internationally recognized academic centers. Our team has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating malignant diseases, blood disorders, and breast conditions.

We currently have an immediate opening for a Telephone Operator.

Scope

Under general supervision, the Telephone Operator is responsible for managing telephone switchboard duties, including call triaging and message relaying. The role involves clerical support and acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff, while adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Answering Calls: Courteously and efficiently answer all incoming calls, connecting callers to the appropriate extension.
  2. Message Handling: Take and relay messages accurately and promptly.
  3. Emergency Response: Respond to urgent and emergency calls from patients in a timely manner.
  4. Call Routing: Direct callers to clinical staff as necessary.
  5. Operator Functions: Perform call triaging, transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on telephone procedures, and reporting equipment malfunctions.
  6. Customer Service: Provide a pleasant and helpful experience for callers.
  7. Switchboard Management: Responsible for opening and closing the switchboard and managing the in-house paging system.
  8. Clerical Duties: Perform assigned clerical tasks to maintain departmental workflow.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least three years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.

Physical Demands

Must be able to sit for extended periods, with the ability to stoop, bend, or stretch for files and supplies. Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required. Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as keyboards, telephones, and copiers is necessary. Corrected vision to 20/20 and normal hearing are required for effective communication.
