Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Class A CDL with air brake certification and a clean driving record are required.
• Some experience operating motorized equipment is required.
• Must be willing to perform snow removal and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tandem dump truck for hauling materials and transporting equipment.
• Perform routine pre-trip DOT inspections.
• Operate heavy and small equipment for stormwater facility maintenance and construction.
• Follow safety requirements at all times.
• Perform heavy manual labor for stormwater projects, snow removal, and debris clearance.
• Use power tools such as chainsaws, drills, mowers, and pumps as needed.
• Assist in loading and unloading transported material and equipment.
• Be available for 24-hour standby and varied shifts as assigned.

Performs manual labor and operates tandem dump trucks and heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of stormwater facilities. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary will depend on qualifications and applications will be reviewed weekly

Essential Job Functions

• Operates a tandem dump truck used for hauling materials and transporting equipment
• Performs routine pre-trip DOT inspections.
• Operates heavy and small equipment used to maintain and construct stormwater facilities and to remove snow.
• Understand and follow all safety requirements
• Perform heavy manual labor needed for construction of storm water projects, snow removal, debris clearing in creeks and streams.
• Operates variety of power tools to include chain saws, pipe saws, mowers, weed trimmers, aerator, drills, dampers, augers, pumps, and wood working tools.
• Applies fertilizer, weed killers and other compounds.
• Perform routine maintenance service and repair to equipment.
• Assists in loading and unloading transported material and equipment.
• Subject to twenty-four (24) hour stand‑by may occasionally work varied and/or extended shifts as assigned.
• During inclement weather will be assigned snow removal duties at County facilities

Requirements/Preferences

Education

Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Required: Some experience in the operation of motorized equipment.

Certifications/ Licenses

Required: Class A commercial driver's license with an air brake certification and have a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Good knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks and other construction and maintenance equipment; and of traffic rules and regulations.
• Ability to operate several types of trucks and construction equipment; make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; follow oral and written instructions; perform 24 hour on-call responsibilities and work varied shifts as assigned; and to perform other duties as assigned when not operating equipment.

Subject to a complete criminal history background search with acceptable results. Following a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer physical examination. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description.
