The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is seeking a Motor Equipment Operator I / Deckhand to perform a variety of dredge-related tasks in the Dredge Operations group, including connecting pipelines, assisting with winch cables, handling lines on vessels, and cleaning/maintaining dredge equipment.
The role requires a valid VA or NC driver’s license; CDL is preferred but not required, with a $2,000 incentive for CDL holders. A pre-employment physical is mandatory.

Work Schedule:
Memorial Day - Labor Day: Fri. 3:30 pm – 6:00 am; Sat. 3:30 pm – 5:00 am; Sun. 3:30 pm – 5:00 am
OR
*Employee will receive an additional 5% shift differential for Memorial Day-Labor Day.*
This position is ALPHA I and is required to work in excess of their normally scheduled days/hours during inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes, snow, etc.) in response to short-term departmental needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
