Description
SCHEDULE: This position operates within a 24/7 environment that may require applicants to work day, evening, and/or night shifts as well asholidays and weekends.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision performs various duties including arranging, scheduling, assigning and monitoring transportation projects to drivers of motor coaches.
TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts with immediate operational authority to remove drivers from service and refer to Driver Manager for failure to abide by safety rules or follow instructions.
Must be able to remember the location of lodgings, attractions and other destination points.
Must be able to track and recall locations of on-road vehicles instantaneously. Transmits and receives information over a two-way radio system.
Communicates with drivers on an ongoing basis and approves or denies requests for work breaks, off time, returning to shop, fueling, etc.
Must approve passenger pick-ups that are not pre-scheduled or dispatched.
Schedules vehicle pick-up times, drop-off times and locations.
Monitors on-road vehicle activity.
Assigns or re-assigns drivers to vehicles or vehicles to work according to driver and vehicle availability, work load, traffic patterns, accidents or inclement weather.
Notifies drivers of road and weather conditions, heavy traffic flows or accident areas and directs vehicles to alternate routes.
Notifies and directs safety officers to accident sites involving company owned vehicles.
Monitors other reported accidents or potential safety situations and advises drivers of proper procedures to use.
Alerts emergency rescue, fire or law enforcement agencies of accidents or safety situations if necessary.
Monitors vehicle breakdowns and notifies management.
Calls wrecker service or other repair facilities for vehicle pick-up if needed.
Works closely with Coach Operations Manager on Duty to assure timely passenger pick-ups and drop-offs, correct vehicle assignment according to number of passengers, destinations, and booking arrangements.
Communicates directly with customers by telephone when necessary to solve customer complaints.
Informs Manager on Duty of all incidents and complaints.
Makes reports to management on driver complaints and other incidents. Assists in locating customer’s lost items.
Prepares various reports for management as required.
May be required to perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: At least six months dispatch experience in a comparable field is preferred.
Skill at: Must be able to memorize and recall locations of lodgings, attractions and other destinations in the Greater Orlando area. Must also have good oral and written communication. Must have good analytical skills in dealing with multiple passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.
Knowledge of: Knowledge of the Greater Orlando area would be a plus.
Licenses: None Required.
SpecialRequirements: Must be able to remain calm, pleasant, and poised in high-pressure situations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to communicate over two-way radio, by telephone or in person in clear fluent English in a friendly, courteous and professional manner to drivers, customers, guests, co-workers or other persons.
Must be able to understand and perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
Must be able to access, input and retrieve information from a 10-key calculator and desktop computer.
Must be able to efficiently and quickly analyze, understand and organize passenger trips with multiple pick-ups and drop-offs and relay the necessary information to drivers.
