Under the Art Director for Arizona PBS, you will design opens, bumpers, lower thirds and social media graphics using After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, collaborating with clients to meet deadlines and brand standards. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in the field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with motion graphics and design for broadcast and digital platforms is required.
  • Strong collaboration with clients and internal teams to meet deadlines and brand guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with clients requesting motion graphics and develop ideas, including new or modified concepts.
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud to create motion graphics for content production and promotions.
  • Prepare mock-ups, renderings, and storyboards.
  • Maintain contact with internal and external clients to ensure deadlines and specs are met.
  • Collaborate across the station using Monday.com to align with project visions and brand guidelines.
  • Archive files and maintain organized filing systems.
  • May also produce static graphics when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Working under Arizona PBS' Art Director, this position is focused on the creation of motion graphics for broadcast and digital platforms. It requires a high level of attention to detail and works with both internal and external clients to deliver assets that align with the Arizona PBS brand and support station projects and activities. The position designs motion graphics for content production and promotions, including but not limited to animated show opens, set pieces, bumpers, transitions, lower thirds, credit rolls, etc. Responsible for more than just broadcast graphics, this position is also tasked with developing graphics for social media, including vertical videos, etc.

Position Salary Range

$57,900 - $80,000 annually; DOE

Essential Duties
  • Coordinates with clients requesting motion graphics; develops ideas; suggests new or modifies existing ideas; demonstrates graphic techniques and advises other departmental personnel on techniques and methods to use.
  • Uses Adobe Creative Cloud software, including After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
  • Prepares mock-ups, renderings, and storyboards.
  • Maintains contact with internal and external clients to ensure adherence to deadlines, time schedules and specifications.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the station, using work management platform, Monday.com, to ensure that requested motion graphics align with the overall vision for each respective project, as well as the station's brand guidelines.
  • Maintains department filing systems for completed artwork and archival computer files.
  • Although focused primarily on motion graphics, this position may also be tasked with static graphic design pieces.
  • The position also performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • This is a staff level position that works under the general direction of the station's art director.
  • Good understanding of capabilities associated with a variety of motion graphic / 2D and 3D animation tools, including but not limited to Blender 3D Studio Max.
  • Good understanding of public television programming.
  • Proactively identifies, develops and deploys solutions to improve effectiveness of multimedia delivered materials and information.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with clients and among team members.
  • Ability to provide alternative creative ideas and solutions to package text, images and sound to achieve desired results; understands targeted audience needs and requirements.
  • Defines tasks, responsibilities and outcomes; documents activities and tracks progress.
  • Possesses a very high attention to detail. Knowledge of typography, sound design, and videography, as well as a familiarity with script and voiceover alignment, is essential.
  • Knowledge of broadcast television and digital video terminology and best practices is also important.
  • Skill in interpreting messages into visual and metaphorical form.
  • Skill in effective communication
  • Skill in effectively establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of PBS and public television programming desired but not required.
Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.

Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
