Job summary

Vox Media in New York City is seeking a Motion Design Lead to conceptualize and execute motion designs across platforms for New York Magazine and Vox. This player/coach role combines hands-on design with leadership, reporting to the art director and creative director on projects.

You will guide freelancers and in-house designers, push visual storytelling, and help set standards and brand guidelines for motion. Hybrid work with in-office and remote days is available.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience in motion design with leadership experience.
• Fluent in After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma.
• Strong storytelling ability with hands-on execution and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Art Directors and Creative Directors to evolve motion design vision for Vox and brands.
• Design and execute motion for a range of ads and internal projects from concept to delivery.
• Lead and mentor freelance motion designers and expand Vox Media's creative network.
• Develop and maintain brand guidelines for motion and animation across deliverables.
• Own motion timelines, review freelancers, and ensure creative integrity at every stage.
